Legal Department

The Legal Department covers general administrative issues concerning the Ministry. It assists and counsels departments of the Ministry regarding issues under their auspices.

The Legal Department oversees issues regarding state aid, public lands, pension issues and public charges. It also monitors the progress of bills before the Althingi and covers relations with the administration of the Althingi and its agencies, i.e., the Althingi Ombudsman and the National Audit Office.

The Legal Department looks after issues  regarding the implementation of the EEA Agreement as they concern the Ministry as well as other international agreements under the auspices of the Ministry and to which Iceland is a party.
